Three Suspected DUI Crashes in Los Angeles, in One Day, Kill One Person and Injure Six
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 24, 2021) – Three crashes in Los Angeles in which drivers are suspected of DUI–in a single day–killed one person and injured six other people. The March 19 crashes occurred within a short time span, within two hours in the late afternoon.
One incident occurred in the area of Highland Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, when a driver smashed into a building. The driver–who is suspected of DUI–hit five people who were on the sidewalk, which included Hal Eisner, who is a reporter for FOX 11, and Joab Perez, who is a cameraman.
Responders transported four patients to the hospital. Officers arrested the driver.
Roughly an hour after that incident, a crash in which street racing is suspected killed a woman who was not involved in the street racing. The crash occurred in the area of Vanowen Street and Valley Circle Boulevard, in the neighborhood of West Hills.
The driver, who is suspected of DUI–struck the vehicle of the woman who was killed. She was 57 years old. Officers arrested the driver, who is suspected of DUI.
Not long after the second crash, a driver–who is suspected of DUI–struck and injured a pedestrian who was walking in the area of Sixth Street and Highland Avenue. She suffered injuries that were described as life threatening. The driver was arrested by authorities.
According to Los Angeles Police, they are increasing patrols and education due to the increased fatalities related to DUI.
