Woman Struck and Killed in Los Angeles’ Arlington Heights; Hit-and-run Suspect Arrested
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 18, 2021) – Last week on Thursday morning, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a woman in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. The victim was identified as Margo Spann, an award-winning journalist.
She was also a board member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
The March 11 incident occurred when Spann, who was walking with her dog, was struck by a vehicle while she was crossing in a crosswalk at Wilton Place and Venice Boulevard, according to Los Angeles Police.
The person driving the vehicle did not stop and remain at the crash site, but fled the scene.
Spann died in the crash. She was a resident of Los Angeles, 40 years old.
Authorities later located the person suspected in the hit-and-run crash. Authorities arrested Ruben Granada, 56 years old.
Investigators are continuing their work on the incident, and they are gathering details and information.
