Santee Wrong-way, Head-on Crash on Mission Gorge Road Kills Man
CARLSBAD, CA (December 7, 2020) – On Friday night in Santee, a wrong-way, head-on collision killed a man. The December 4 incident occurred on Mission Gorge Road, close to where Cottonwood Avenue is located.
The time was roughly 6:00 p.m., according to Robert Heims. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.
A vehicle–described as an Acura sedan, blue in color–had been traveling in the wrong direction on Mission Gorge Road, according to reports. Another vehicle–described as a Toyota pickup truck–came over the hill and collided with the Acura.
Responders transported the person who had been driving the Acura to the hospital. He died in the hospital.
He was identified only as 50 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders also transported the person who had been driving the pickup truck to the hospital. He suffered injuries that included numerous fractures to his face.
He was identified only as 59 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand the crash by collecting information and details.
