Teen Girl Identified in Ventura Crash on Pacific Coast Highway
VENTURA COUNTY, CA (November 4, 2020) – Lauren Machuca was identified as the teen killed in a crash on Monday in Ventura County on Pacific Coast Highway. The November 3 incident occurred near Thornhill Broome Beach Campground, and to the south of it, south of Mugu Rock.
The time was roughly 4:55 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Machuca had been the driver of a Honda Civic, which was stopped on the road’s right shoulder on the southbound side. According to reports, Machuca made a U-turn to travel on Pacific Coast Highway northbound.
A vehicle–described as a BMW–which had been heading south on Pacific Coast Highway–struck the Honda broadside on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The impact sent the two vehicles into the road’s right shoulder on the northbound side.
Responders arrived and pronounced Machuca deceased at the incident site. She was a resident of Mesa, Arizona, 19 years.
Responders transported a passenger from the Honda to VCMC. She suffered injuries that were described as major. Her current condition is not known.
She was identified only as a resident of Mesa, Arizona, 19 years old. Her name has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the BMW was reported uninjured in the crash. He was identified as a resident of Harbor City, 57 years old. His name has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident details.
