Second Victim Died from Her Injuries in San Diego Crash that Killed Casey Hargis
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 15, 2020) – Kiana Taylor died on Friday, September 11, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office, after suffering injuries in a collision that killed Casey Hargis on September 9. The crash occurred in the area where El Cajon Boulevard and 70th Street intersect.
Taylor, along with Hargis–who had been traveling as a passenger–were fatally injured when a vehicle struck their vehicle. According to San Diego Police, the vehicle that struck them–described as a Mercedes E400–had been driven by a man who suffered a medical issue, which has not been described.
Taylor’s vehicle, which was located in the lane to turn onto 70th Street from El Cajon Boulevard, was struck from the rear by the Mercedes. Taylor’s vehicle erupted in flames.
The force of the crash sent Taylor’s vehicle and the Mercedes into the lane that heads west, and they collided with three vehicles in the area.
Hargis suffered fatal injuries and died hours later. She was 22 years old, and a resident of San Diego.
Taylor died on Friday at UCSD Medical Center from her injuries. She was also 22 years old, and a resident of Poway.
The driver of the Mercedes was identified only as a man 63 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
People who were traveling in the three other vehicles that were struck were reported to have suffered injuries that were described as minor. Their identities have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing work on gathering information about the incident.
