Teens Crash in Suspected Stolen BMW in North Hollywood, Damaging Vehicles
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA (August 6, 2020) – In the afternoon on Wednesday, teens fleeing from officer pursuit in a suspected stolen vehicle crashed in North Hollywood. The August 5 incident occurred close to Satsuma Avenue and Camarillo Street.
The time was roughly 3:50 p.m.
The incident began roughly twenty minutes earlier, reports say, in the area of Palmdale. According to Brian Axt, who is a sergeant with the California Highway Patrol, two people–described as a girl and a boy–entered the vehicle.
Though officers attempted to pull the car over, the driver would not comply. During the incident the vehicle–described as a BMW–traveled in the wrong direction on a street in North Hollywood, and continued at a fast speed in the San Fernando Valley area.
The BMW smashed into two vehicles parked on the street with force, causing the BMW to rollover and shoving the parked vehicles.
After the impact, the BMW came back down onto its wheels. According to reports, two people ran from the wreckage into an alley close by.
Officers found the two people some time later. The two were described only as being in their teens. Their names, ages, and cities of residence have not been reported. The driver has not been identified.
Both were reported to have suffered injuries that were described as minor. Responders transported them to a hospital.
One of the vehicles that was struck–described as a Cadillac–was described as totaled by its owner, Ron Motz, according to reports. The owner of the other vehicle that was struck has not been identified, and the vehicle has not been described. Reports do not identify the owner of the suspected stolen BMW.
