Hit-and-run Driver Smashes Parked Vehicles Near Kempton and Akard Streets in Spring Valley
SPRING VALLEY, CA (August 4, 2020) – Early in the morning on Monday in Spring Valley, a driver smashed into parked vehicles and a fire hydrant. The August 3 incident occurred close to where Kempton Street and Akard Street intersect.
The time was roughly 5:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as a pickup truck–smashed into a vehicle parked on the street, which has not been described. It also struck a fire hydrant and a minivan. The pickup truck overturned, and came to a stop upside down.
Reports say the person who had been driving the pickup truck exited the vehicle, and fled the scene on foot. Officers found the suspect driver not far from the crash site.
The suspect driver has not been identified, including his name, age, and city of residence. According to reports, the injuries he suffered were not life threatening. He is suspected of driving under the influence.
None of the owners of the vehicles that were struck have been identified in reports. It is not clear if the fire hydrant broke and released water.
Investigators are working to gather information and details regarding the incident.
