Two Crashes in Paradise Hills Area of San Diego on SR-54 Kill Two People
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 15, 2020) – On Tuesday night in San Diego, two crashes in the area of Paradise Hills killed two people. The July 14 incidents both occurred on State Route 54.
The first crash happened at roughly 9:30 p.m. In that incident, a vehicle–described as a pickup truck–went out of the driver’s control, for reasons that are not known. The truck crashed near Reo Drive on the westbound side of the road, and rolled over.
The crash threw the driver and three passengers from the truck. A vehicle that was passing by ran over the driver.
Responders pronounced the driver deceased at the incident site. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders transported the three passengers–who were identified only as female–to the hospital. Their injuries have not been reported, nor their current condition.
The driver of the vehicle that ran over the victim has not been identified in reports. The vehicle has not been described.
A second crash on SR-54 occurred roughly an hour later. In the second crash, a vehicle–described as a Honda CRV–struck the rear end of a pickup truck. The truck–described as a Chevrolet Silverado–had been stopped on the road due to traffic that was backed up because of the first crash.
The person who had been driving the Honda is reported to have left the incident site. Authorities are searching for the driver. The identity of the driver has not been reported, nor has the person been described.
A passenger in the Honda was killed in the collision. The identity of the victim has not been reported.
Responders took the driver of the pickup truck to the hospital. She suffered injuries that were described as major. Her current condition is not known. Her identity has not been reported.
Investigators are working on both incidents, and they are gathering information and details to understand the circumstances of each event.
