Man Identified as Motorcyclist Killed in Crash Near Santa Maria on Foxen Canyon Road

SANTA MARIA, CA (June 23, 2020) – Jeffrey Marez was identified by the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office as the person who was killed in a head-on collision last Thursday near Santa Maria involving a car and motorcycle. The June 18 incident occurred on Foxen Canyon Road, close to where Depo Street intersects in the area of Sisquoc.

The time was roughly a little before 6:15 p.m.

Reports say Marez had been traveling south on Foxen Canyon Road, and went into the lane of opposing traffic at a spot where the road curves. The motorcycle he was riding collided with a car. After the crash, the motorcycle began to burn.

Responders arrived and pronounced Marez deceased at the incident site. He was a resident of Santa Maria, 43 years old.

Responders treated three people who had been traveling in the car. The injuries they suffered were described as minor. The identities of the people have not been reported.

Investigators are continuing their work on collecting details and information regarding the crash.
