Driver Crashes at Pier Entrance in Venice Beach; Good Samaritan Helps
VENICE BEACH, CA (June 11, 2020) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a driver was helped by a Good Samaritan after he crashed into the entrance at the pier in Venice Beach. The June 11 incident occurred where a message board and a guard shack are located.
The time was roughly 3:30 a.m., according to Los Angeles Police.
Reports say a vehicle–described as an SUV–had been heading toward the beach on Washington Boulevard, and investigators think it may have been going at a fast speed. The vehicle went out of the driver’s control, and crashed at the entrance to the pier, smashing into a message board.
The SUV slammed into a guard shack, wrecking the driver’s side of the vehicle. A Good Samaritan helped the driver out of the vehicle and attended to him until responders arrived.
Responders transported the injured man to a hospital in the area. The injuries he suffered have not been described. According to Darryl Jacobs, who is a sergeant with the Los Angeles Police, the man is in his 20s or 30s. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to gather information to understand why the crash happened.
