Crash on 15 Freeway in San Diego’s Mission Valley Kills One Person
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 28, 2020) – Early in the morning on Sunday, a fiery vehicle crash on the 15 Freeway in San Diego killed one person. The April 26 incident occurred on the southbound side of the freeway, where the 8 Freeway in Mission Valley is located.
The time was roughly 12:16 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say that people who witnessed the incident said the vehicle–which has not been described–crashed, and the vehicle erupted in flames. Good Samaritans rescued a person who had been a passenger in the vehicle by dragging the victim out after breaking a window.
The driver was in the vehicle, and it is not clear if the person was pulled from the burning wreckage. The driver died at the incident site. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The identity of the passenger has also not been reported. It is not known what types of injuries the person suffered, and the current condition.
Investigators are working to collect information that will help them understand why the crash happened, and what factors contributed to it.
