Suspect Points Gun and Carjacks Man’s Truck in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 23, 2020) – On Thursday night, a suspect carjacked a man’s vehicle at gunpoint in San Diego’s Encanto area. The March 20 incident occurred on Akins Avenue.
The time was roughly a little after 11:10 p.m., Robert Heims said. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.
Reports say the victim had been driving a pickup truck, silver in color, and going slowly on Akins Avenue. The suspected carjacker ran to the man’s truck, aimed a gun at the driver, and demanded the vehicle.
The driver exited his pickup truck, and the suspect carjacker took it and left.
Authorities described the victim’s vehicle as a GMC pickup truck, silver in color, with four doors, year 2014. It bears a California license plate with the number 60700Y on the rear end. The license plate on the front end is a dealer plate; the number is AN96G76.
Investigators are searching for the carjacking suspect. He was described as Hispanic, roughly 40 to 50 years of age. He was wearing a black sweater and a black beanie hat.
The identity of the victim has not been reported.
