Wrong-way Collision on I-5 Kills Two People in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 11, 2020) – Early in the morning on Wednesday, a wrong-way collision in San Diego on I-5 killed two people. The March 11 incident occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, close to where the overpass for 4th Avenue is located.
The time was roughly 1:15 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a sedan, black in color—had been heading southbound in the lanes of the freeway that head north in the Old Town area. The sedan struck another vehicle head on.
Responders arrived on scene to help, but both drivers died at the crash site, reports say. One of the drivers was identified only as a female. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reproted.
The other driver was identified only as a male. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
It is not known from reports which vehicle each driver had been traveling in. The other vehicle involved in the incident has not been described.
Investigators are gathering information and details regarding the crash. At this time, no other details are known.
