Valley Center Head-on Collision Kills Man; Injures Two
VALLEY CENTER, CA (March 6, 2020) – On Tuesday night, a head-on collision in Valley Center killed a man. The March 3 incident occurred on Valley Center Road, near Waa’ash Road and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 7:00 p.m., according to Mark Latulippe. Latulippe is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a pickup truck—described as a Ford Ranger—had been heading north on Valley Center Road and it went into the lane of opposing traffic in an area where the road curves to the left. The Ford sidswiped a vehicle, described as a Chevrolet Tahoe. The Ford then collided head-on with a pickup truck, described as a Chevrolet Silverado.
Responders arrived and pronounced the man who had been driving the Ford deceased at the incident site. He was identified only as a resident of San Diego, 85 years old. His name has not been reported.
Responders transported two occupants of the Chevrolet pickup truck to Palomar Medical Center. One of the victims was identified as a man 59 years old, and a resident of Vista. He had been driving the truck.
A passenger was identified as a woman 89 years old. The types of injuries the two people suffered, and their current condition, are not known. Their names have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Chevrolet Tahoe was not hurt in the crash, reports say. The person’s identity has not been reported.
Investigators are collecting information and details regarding the crash.
