Man Killed in Second Fatal Crash on Wednesday Night in Ventura County; Woman Killed in First Crash
VENTURA COUNTY, CA (March 6, 2020) – Two fatal crashes, both on Wednesday night, killed two people in Ventura County. The March 4 incidents occurred within less than an hour of each other.
The first incident occurred on Old Telegraph Road near 7th Street, in an area near Fillmore and to the west of it.
The time was roughly a little before 10:30 p.m.
Reports say a woman had been walking on Old Telegraph Road in the eastbound lane, and a vehicle struck her. The person driving the vehicle remained at the incident site.
Responders arrived and found that the woman was killed in the incident. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The driver was identified only as a man who is a resident of Fillmore. His name and age have not been reported. Reports say he cooperated with investigators.
The second crash occurred close to where the Oxnard Airport is located, less than an hour after the earlier crash. Reports say a vehicle—described as a semi truck that was pulling a trailer—turned to the left from Victoria Avenue onto Teal Club Road.
A motorcycle, which had been heading north on Victoria, collided with the semi truck. Responders arrived and pronounced the rider deceased at the incident site. He was identified as Aaron Islas, 33 years old and a resident of Ventura.
The person driving the big rig was reported uninjured. The identity of the driver has not been reported.
Investigators are collecting details and information to understand the circumstances and factors in both crashes.
