Jeep Falls From 6th Floor of Parking Structure in Santa Monica; Driver Critically Injured
SANTA MONICA, CA (February 24, 2020) – Early in the morning on Sunday, a Jeep fell from the sixth floor of a parking structure in Santa Monica, critically injuring the driver. Two passengers who had been in the vehicle were able to jump from it before it fell.
The February 23 incident occurred at 1571 Second Street, which is a parking structure located near the Santa Monica Pier.
The time was a little after midnight, according to Santa Monica Police.
Reports say the vehicle went off the top floor of the structure, and ended up on the opposite side of the street, leaning against a building.
For reasons that are not known, the Jeep broke through a fence made of wire at the parking structure, and fell to the ground.
Responders from the Santa Monica Fire Department arrived and worked to free the driver from the wreckage. The driver suffered injuries that have not been described. His condition was described as critical.
The driver was identified only as a man who is a resident of Twentynine Palms, 20 years old. His name has not been reported.
The two passengers who jumped out of the vehicle before it fell have not been identified in reports, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence.
