Hit-and-run Collision Injures Motorcyclist on Coffee Road in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 2, 2020) – Late in the afternoon on Tuesday, a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield. The December 31 incident occurred on Coffee Road in the 200 block.
The time was roughly 5:34 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department said.
Reports say a vehicle—described as an SUV, white in color—had been heading north. The SUV is reported to have made a lane change, and collided with the motorcycle. The driver of the SUV then left the incident site.
Responders arrived and transported the motorcyclist to a hospital. The rider suffered injuries that were described as major. The victim’s condition is critical. The identity of the rider, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The SUV was later located by officers. It had been abandoned not far from where the crash occurred. Officers also located the suspected driver in a restaurant close to the crash scene.
Reports say the suspected driver was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run involving injury, and driving on a suspended license. The suspected driver was identified as Trumonikia Fields-Johnson, 40 years old.
