Man Struck by 3 Hit-and-run Drivers and Killed on Adams Blvd in Los Angeles; Dragged 13 Blocks
LOS ANGELES, CA (December 9, 2019) – On Thanksgiving Day, Jihad Muhammad was struck by three hit-and-run drivers in Los Angeles, and dragged for 13 blocks. The November 28 incident occurred in the Los Angeles neighborhood of West Adams.
The time was roughly 8:40 p.m., according the the Los Angeles Police Department.
Reports say Muhammad had been walking on Adams Boulevard, and in an area close to West View Street, a vehicle—described as a white sedan— which had been heading east, hit him. Video recorded by a surveillance camera shows the vehicle pull over for a few moments before leaving the scene.
Muhammad was down on the ground when a second vehicle hit and ran over him. The vehicle was described as white, possibly a Cadillac Seville.
Shortly after the second vehicle hit Muhammad, a witness saw him on the ground and called 911. While the witness was contacting authorities, reports say, a third vehicle hit Muhammad. The third vehicle was described as maybe a Ford Focus, gray or white in color.
According to reports, Muhammad’s body was trapped under the third vehicle, which continued to travel on Adams Boulevard for almost a mile. The vehicle stopped in a gas station at the Crenshaw Boulevard intersection, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
When the driver of the third vehicle exited at the gas pumps, she is alleged to have looked beneath her car to see what was there. She re-entered her vehicle, reports say, put it in reverse, and Muhammad’s body was released.
A person who had been traveling as a passenger with the woman was reported to have exited the vehicle, and seen Muhammad’s body on the ground. The vehicle left the scene.
Responders arrived and pronounced Muhammad deceased at the final scene. He was 62 years old.
Investigators are searching for all three hit-and-run drivers and the three vehicles involved. They have released multiple surveillance videos caught by different cameras.
