Pedestrian Seriously Injured by Hit-and-run Driver in Buellton; Suspect Arrested

BUELLTON, CA (November 27, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and severely injured late Sunday afternoon in Buellton by a hit-and-run driver. The November 24 incident occurred on Avenue of the Flags, close to Highway 246.

The time was roughly 5:42 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Reports say deputies found an injured man on the road. Responders transported the victim by airlift to a hospital.

The man suffered injuries that were described as serious, including injury to his head. The victim’s current condition is not known. His name has not been reported.

A person who witnessed the incident is reported to have followed the vehicle that is suspected of striking the victim. The vehicle was described as a Chevrolet Silverado. The witness gave authorities the license plate number, reports say.

Deputies later arrested a person who is suspected of having driven the vehicle when the incident occurred. The person was identified as Luis Alberto Ledesma, a resident of Santa Maria, 26 years old.

According to reports, Ledesma was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and felony DUI.
