A pedestrian was crossing northbound Harbor 110 freeway, around 5:00 a.m., north of Rosecrans Avenue when he was struck by an oncoming Honda Element SUV. The driver of the SUV, a 26-year old, and resident of Westminster in Orange County said that by the time she swerved to avoid the silhouette of a person, it was too late. She struck the pedestrian with the right side of her SUV. The impact of the collision tossed him to another lane. An oncoming motorcycle failed to avoid the airborne pedestrian, struck him and ran him over.
Rescuers found the pedestrian dead on the scene. Neither of the motorists involved in the accident was hurt.
California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident and has not released the identity of the victim.
