CHULA VISTA, CA (November 4, 2019) – Late Saturday afternoon, three children who were walking across a street in Chula Vista were struck and injured by a vehicle. The November 2 incident occurred on Santa Victoria Avenue in Montecito Village, in the neighborhood of Otay Ranch.
The time was roughly 5:00 p.m.
The children were walking across Santa Victoria Avenue near Muroaka Elementary School, according to Chula Vista Police, when a vehicle—described as a Toyota Corolla—hit them.
Reports say the three victims had not been walking in a crosswalk that is marked when they were hit. Responders arrived and took two of the children to a hospital in the area. According to people who had been in the area, the condition of the two younger children appeared to be good.
A third child—identified only as a girl 15 years old—was also transported to a hospital by responders. According to reports, she suffered an injury to her head, among other injuries. Her condition was described as critical but stable.
The person who had been driving the vehicle stayed at the incident site and cooperated with investigators. The driver was identified only as a man in his 50s. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
