Man Killed after Being Struck by Two Vehicles in Inglewood on 405 Freeway; One Driver was Hit-and-run
INGLEWOOD, CA (September 16, 2019) – Late Friday night, a man died after being struck by two vehicles on the 405 Freeway in Inglewood. The September 13 incident occurred on the freeway’s southbound side, near Century Boulevard and to the north of it.
The time was roughly 11:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say the man was walking on the freeway, for reasons that are not known. A vehicle—described only as dark in color—hit the victim while he was in the number 5 lane. A second vehicle—described as a Toyota Camry—also hit the man when he was in the number 5 lane.
Responders arrived and pronounced the man deceased at the incident site. He was identified only as 28 years old and a resident of Compton.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the first vehicle that hit the victim fled the incident site. No description of the driver has been reported.
The person who was driving the Toyota stayed on site and cooperated with the investigation. The driver was identified as a man 64 years old and a resident of Compton. His name has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to gather details and evidence regarding the incident. They are searching for the first vehicle involved, and its driver.
