Big Rig Hits and Damages Vineyard Drive Overpass on Highway 101 in Templeton

TEMPLETON, CA (September 6, 2019) – On Wednesday afternoon, a big rig that was traveling on Highway 101 in Templeton hit the overpass for Vineyard Drive, damaging it. The September 4 incident occurred on the highway’s northbound side.

The time was roughly 4:20 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Reports say the truck had an oversized load, and that when it struck the overpass, debris fell and landed on the road surface. It is not known from reports if anyone was hurt in the incident, or if any other vehicle that may have been traveling on the highway was damaged by the debris.

The identity of the person who was driving the big rig has not been reported, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. The load that was being hauled has not been described.

An employee of Caltrans is reported to have discovered that the structure of the overpass was sound following the incident.

Investigators are working on information-gathering related to the incident.
