SAN DIEGO, CA (August 29, 2019) – On Wednesday afternoon in San Diego, a driver struck a neighbor with her vehicle, and the act is suspected of being intentional. The August 28 incident occurred in the Chollas View area, on 47th Street in the 200 block, close to the trolley station.
The time was roughly 2:00 p.m., police said.
Reports say the driver—identified as Tantrina Spencer-Simmons, 24 years old—was seen using a belt to beat a child. The child was identified as Spencer-Simmons’ sister, who is 8 years old.
The person who witnessed the incident—identified as a man, 50 years old—confronted the woman about striking the child as she put the young girl into a vehicle.

Responders arrived and found the man had suffered serious injuries that were reported as life threatening. His current condition is not known. His identity—including his name and city of residence—has not been reported.
Authorities arrested Spencer-Simmons after finding her later the same day on Market Street.
