Driver Rear-ends Fire Truck on State Route 52 in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 29, 2019) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a driver who was traveling on State Route 52 in San Diego near Tierrasanta rear-ended a fire truck. The August 29 incident occurred on the eastbound side of the freeway, close to Mast Boulevard.
The time was roughly 1:30 a.m.
Reports say the person smashed his car into the fire truck due to texting while he was driving. The car erupted in flames with the force of the collision. Firefighters, who were close by, extinguished the fire and helped the driver.
The person who was driving the car was reported to be uninjured in the incident. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported. The type of car he was driving has not been described.
The bumper of the fire truck had a big indentation due to the collision. No one else was reported injured in the incident.
Investigators are working on gathering more information regarding the crash.
