Collision on Rancho Santa Fe Road in Carlsbad Injures Three People

CARLSBAD, CA (July 2, 2019) – A collision Saturday morning in Carlsbad injured three people. The June 29 incident occurred where Camino Junipero and Rancho Santa Fe Road intersect.

The time was roughly 9:35 a.m., according to Carlsbad police.

Reports say a vehicle—described as a Hyundai Tucson, silver in color—was heading south on Rancho Santa Fe Road. It traveled through a light that was red at the intersection with Camino Junipero, and collided with another vehicle, described as a Honda Accord.

The Honda Accord was turning to the left from Rancho Santa Fe Road when the collision occurred. The Hyundai Tucson struck the Honda on the passenger side.

Responders arrived and transported two people who had been traveling in the Honda to a hospital. The types of injuries the victims suffered have not been reported. They were identified as men, each 22 years of age. Their names and cities of residence have not been reported.

Responders also transported the person who had been driving the Hyundai Tucson to the hospital. The types of injuries the victim suffered have not been described, though reports say the victims suffered injuries that ranged from moderate to severe. The Hyundai’s driver was identified as a man 25 years of age. His name, and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the crash.
