Woman Riding Bicycle Struck and Killed on Hemlock Street in Oxnard
OXNARD, CA (June 19, 2019) – A woman who was riding a bicycle in Oxnard early in the morning on Tuesday was struck by a vehicle and killed. The June 17 incident occurred on Hemlock Street.
The time was roughly 5:30 a.m.
According to Oxnard Police, a vehicle—described as a Ford Explorer—had been traveling west on Hemlock Street. A bicyclist, who was also heading west on Hemlock, is reported to have made a turn to the left in the vehicle’s path in an area near Seaside Drive. The driver was not able to avoid the bicyclist, and the vehicle hit her.
Responders arrived and took the bicyclist, whose condition was described as critical, to VCMC where she died. She was identified only as a resident of Port Hueneme, 44 years old. Her name has not been reported.
The person who was driving the vehicle remained at the accident site and cooperated with the investigation. He was identified as a man 28 years old and a resident of Oxnard. His name has not been reported.
The investigation is continuing into the details and factors related to the crash.
