Man Killed in Crash in North Hills; Four Others Injured
NORTH HILLS, CA (June 17, 2019) – Francisco Hernandez Rivas died in a collision in the morning on Sunday in North Hills, according to Larry Dietz. Dietz is a lieutenant with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Four other people were injured in the June 16 incident, which occurred where Parthenia Street and Haskell Avenue intersect.
The time was roughly 5:40 a.m., Los Angeles Police said.
Reports say two vehicles—an SUV and a Lexus sedan—were involved in the San Fernando Valley collision. The Lexus ended up near a curb and a broken fence, and the SUV landed on its roof.
Rivas, who had been driving the SUV, died at the accident site, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Rivas was identified as 48 years old and a resident of North Hills. One person had been traveling as a passenger in the SUV. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Four people had been traveling in the Lexus. The driver—identified only as a female—left the sedan and the accident site on foot, according to Los Angeles Police. Authorities are seeking the driver, whose identity has not been reported.
According to reports, respondents transported four victims to a hospital. The condition of two of the victims was described as critical. It is not known what types of injuries they suffered. Reports say that all four victim had suffered injuries that caused them to be considered serious. None of the identities of the victims have been reported.
A third vehicle, described as a pickup truck, which had been parked near the incident was damaged. According to authorities, no one was inside the pickup when the incident occurred. The owner of the pickup has not been identified.
