Crash at Off-road Facility Injures Motocross Rider and Bystander in Lakeside
LAKESIDE, CA (June 11, 2019) – A crash at an off-road facility injured a motocross rider and a bystander in Lakeside on Sunday. The June 9 incident occurred on Barona Oaks MX, which reports describe as an off-road park about 80 acres in size where people bring their own motorcycles and ATVs.
The time of the incident was a little after noon.
Reports say two people—both identified as men—were injured in the incident, one of them a motocross rider, and the other a bystander. The rider had been traveling around the track making a training run when the motorcycle went out of his control. The motorcycle hit a person who had been a bystander, according to Jim Huson. Huson is a captain with the Barona Fire Department.
Respondents transported the rider by airlift to a hospital. The types of injuries the rider suffered, and his current condition, have not been reported. He was identified as in his 40s. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
