Car Veers Off Street, Crashes into House’s Backyard in El Cajon

EL CAJON, CA (May 9, 2019) – A car almost ended up in the swimming pool of a house in El Cajon after swerving off the street and crashing into the backyard early in the morning on Wednesday. The May 8 incident occurred on Castano Lane in the 8600 block.

The time was roughly 1:15 a.m.

Reports say a vehicle—described as a Ford Mustang—had been traveling on the street, and has the driver attempted to turn onto Ridge Hill Road at Castano Lane, the vehicle went out of the his control.

The vehicle crashed into a fence and through it. It traveled downward on a slope and then came to a stop inches away from a swimming pool.

Authorities arrived and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI after giving him a field sobriety test, reports say. A person traveling as a passenger—identified only as a female—almost tumbled in the pool as she left the vehicle. Witnesses helped the woman at the accident site. Officers from the California Highway Patrol later gave her a ride, according to reports.

No injuries were reported in the crash. The identity of the driver, including his name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported. The identity of the passenger has also not been reported.

No details are known about the person who owns the property where the car crashed. Investigators are continuing to look into the information.
