Man Identified as Victim of Hit-and-run Crash in Torrance

TORRANCE, CA (May 1, 2019) – Ghulam Ali Khimani was identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office as the victim who was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Monday night. The April 29 incident occurred where Mariner Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard intersect.

The time was roughly 8:40 p.m., the Torrance Police Department said.

Reports say that Khimani had been crossing the street on foot inside a crosswalk when a vehicle hit him. A news release from police said that the vehicle had the right of way, proceeding on a green light when it hit the victim. The driver, however, did not stop to help the injured man, who police say was seriously injured. The driver sped away, according to police.

Khimani died at the accident site. He was 81 years old.

According to police, the vehicle involved in the incident was gray or blue in color, a Honda that is a four-door sedan. The front of the vehicle should have damage.

Investigators are looking to find video that may have been captured by surveillance cameras in the area. No details or description have been reported about the hit-and-run driver.
