Woman Suffers Critical Injuries After Hit-and-run Driver Strikes Her in Rancho Cucamonga
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (March 29, 2019) – Alanna Abbott was critically injured in Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday night when a vehicle struck her and left the scene. The March 27 accident occurred where Hellman Avenue and Foothill Boulevard intersect.
The time was roughly 10:24 p.m.
Reports say Abbott was making a turn to the left with a green arrow signal to travel south on Hellman. A driver who, according to police, ran through a red light, hit Abbott. People who witnessed the incident communicated to Rancho Cucamonga Police that the driver who hit Abbott had been weaving through traffic, and ran through a number of red lights on Foothill Boulevard in the stretch from Upland to the area of Rancho Cucamonga.
According to police, after colliding with Abbott, the driver exited his car and left the accident site without helping Abbott. Responders transported Abbott to a hospital. Her condition was described as critical, though stable. The types of injuries she suffered have not been reported.
Authorities identified the suspect hit-and-run driver as Miguel Mendoza, 36 years old and a resident of Gardena. The types of vehicles involved in the incident have not been described.
