Man in Wheelchair Struck and Injured by Hit-and-run Driver in Ventura
VENTURA, CA (March 15, 2019) – A man in a wheelchair was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver in the evening on Thursday in Ventura. The March 14 accident occurred close to where West Main Street and South Garden Street intersect.
The time was roughly 10:30 p.m.
According to the Ventura Police Department, respondents arrived on scene and found an injured man down on the road, in the crosswalk on Main Street. The man—identified as 64 years old—suffered injuries that were described as moderate. Respondents transported him to a hospital in the area. According to Ventura Police, the injuries the man suffered were not life threatening. The man’s name and city of residence have not been reported.
According to reports, investigators think that the man had been heading across Main Street and a vehicle, that turned left from Garden Street, struck him and his wheelchair. The crash destroyed the man’s wheelchair.
The vehicle involved in the incident may have been a sedan, two doors, black in color. The driver has not been described. Police ask that if anyone has information regarding the incident, he or she call police. The number is 805-339-4400.
