Crash Involving Three Vehicles in Sylmar Causes Serious Injuries
SYLMAR, CA (March 4, 2019) – A crash involving three vehicles in Sylmar on Sunday afternoon caused serious injuries. The March 3 accident occurred on West Foothill Boulevard in the 12700 block.
The time was roughly 2:50 p.m.
Reports say that a man driving a vehicle struck a another vehicle—described as an Infiniti—broadside, which sent it in the path of a third vehicle, described as a GMC SUV. Inside the Infiniti, a man and a woman suffered injuries that were described as life threatening. The man and woman—identified as a couple—were traveling with an infant who is seven months old. The infant was in a car seat in the back of the vehicle, Cameron Dunnet said. Dunnet is a sergeant with the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division.
Respondents arrived and had to work to extricate the couple from the Infiniti, according to Brian Humphrey, who is a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department. Reports say that the three vehicles involved in the incident all had major damage. Respondents took four people to local hospitals, two adults whose conditions were described as critical, and an adult and an infant whose conditions were described as serious.
It is not clear from reports which vehicle each injured person had been traveling in. The identities of the people involved in the incident have not been reported. The types of injuries the people suffered have not been reported.
Investigators are examining the evidence to understand the sequence of events that led to the crash. No details have yet been reported on why that incident happened.
