Two Injured in Five-vehicle Collision in Santa Maria
SANTA MARIA, CA (February 15, 2019) – Two people were injured in a five-vehicle collision Thursday morning in Santa Maria. The February 14 accident occurred where Donovan and Broadway intersect.
The time was roughly 9:30 a.m.
Reports say that Guadalupe police began pursuit of a driver in Guadalupe, who appeared to be driving a car that had been reported stolen days prior. According to police, they pursued the suspect stolen vehicle through Guadalupe. The suspect driver entered Highway 101 and drove into Santa Maria.
According to a witness who is reported to have been on the road when the crash occurred, she heard a siren in back of her vehicle. She looked behind her, and saw the chase. The witness said she was worried because the signal was red and had been red for some time. The traffic was moving on Broadway, she said, and the driver did not slow by much. The driver blew through the red light and collided with a pickup truck, according to the witness.
Reports say that five vehicles were involved in the collision, but the types of all five vehicles have not been described, nor the sequence of events in which they collided. The identities of the driver of each vehicle has also not been described, and it is not known who may have been traveling as a passenger in any of the vehicles. According to reports, two people suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital.
