Four Vehicles Collide on Highway 74 Near Lake Elsinore; One Person Seriously Injured
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (January 22, 2019) – Four vehicles collided on State Route 74 near Lake Elsinore in the afternoon on Sunday, seriously injuring one person. The January 20 accident occurred close to the Tenaja Truck Trail, and to the south of it, the California Highway Patrol said.
The time was roughly 2:16 p.m.
Reports say that four vehicles traveling on the road, which is also known as the Ortega Highway, collided. The vehicles were described as a sedan, an SUV, and two motorcycles. The accident occurred in the Santa Ana Mountains, above the city of Lake Elsinore.
A witness had reported to California Highway Patrol that a motorcycle collided head on with an SUV, and the motorcycle then hit other vehicles, one of which was a second motorcycle.
Respondents arrived on scene and took one victim by airlift to a hospital, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The victim’s injuries were described as serious. The name, age, gender, and city of residence of the victim have not yet been reported. It is not known from reports which vehicle the victim had been traveling in.
The identities of the other drivers of the vehicles involved in the crash have not yet been reported, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence. It is also not known if there were any passengers in any of the vehicles when the accident occurred.
Reports do not say if anyone else was hurt in the accident. It is also not yet known what circumstances led to the crash. Investigators are examining the details.
