Crash on 101 Freeway in Downtown Ventura Kills One Person; Second Fatality Over New Year’s Holiday
VENTURA, CA (January 2, 2019) – A crash in downtown Ventura early in the morning on Tuesday killed one person. The January 1 accident occurred on the 101 Freeway in the northbound lanes, at the offramp for California Street.
The time was roughly 3:30 a.m.
According to reports, a man who had been walking may have been struck by a vehicle, but no details have been reported. The victim’s name, age, and city of residence have not yet been reported. The name of the driver, the person’s age, gender, and city of residence have not yet been reported, or if anyone had been traveling as a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The type of vehicle has also not yet been reported.
Reports say the accident was the second one to involve a fatality in Ventura County during the four-day holiday period for New Year’s. The first fatality occurred early in the morning on Sunday. At a point to the north of the exit for State Beaches, a crash occurred and he was thrown from his vehicle. The victim was then hit by vehicles that were traveling on the freeway.
