East San Diego County Head-on Crash Involves Driver Suspected of DUI

LAKESIDE, CA (December 21, 2018) – A head-on collision that occurred early in the morning in Lakeside on Friday led to the arrest of a driver suspected of driving under the influence. The December 21 accident occurred on Winter Gardens Boulevard in the 8500 block.

The time was roughly a bit before 2:00 a.m.

According to Tommy Doerr, who is an officer with the California Highway Patrol, CHP received calls that two vehicles—described as a sedan and a Dodge Durango truck that was pulling a trailer—crashed head on. One of the vehicles rolled over.

Respondents arrived on scene and took one victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital. The identity of the victim, the name, age, gender, and city of residence have not yet been reported. The types of injuries suffered by the victim have not yet been reported, nor what vehicle the victim had been traveling in.

According to Doerr, one person, who was suspected of driving under the influence, was arrested at the accident scene. The name, age, gender, and city of residence of the arrested driver have not yet been reported.

It is not known from reports if there were any other occupants in the vehicles at the time of the crash. Investigators are trying to find out what caused the collision by examining the details and information.
