Elderly Man Hit and Killed in Aguanga by Golf Cart
AGUANGA, CA (November 29, 2018) – An elderly man was hit by a golf cart in a mobile home park in Aguanga on Tuesday morning. He suffered fatal injuries as a result. The November 27 accident occurred at Rancho California RV Park. The mobile home park is located on state Route 79, in the 45500 block, the California Highway Patrol says.
The time of the accident was roughly 10:10 a.m.
According to Officer Mike Lassig, the man—identified as a 77 year old and a resident of Aguanga—had been walking on Santa Fe Lane. Another man—identified as a 73 year old and a resident of the mobile park—had been driving a Golf Cart, going approximately 10 miles per hour.
Lassig said that as the driver approached the pedestrian, the pedestrian turned to head south. The pedestrian crossed in front of the golf cart that was moving ahead.
The golf cart struck the pedestrian, and the pedestrian hit the road. He suffered major trauma to his head, reports say.
Respondents from police and Cal Fire Riverside County Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after the accident and attended to the victim. The victim was transported by airlift to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar. The victim died in the hospital.
Respondents also transported the driver to Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta.
The names of the people involved in the accident have not been reported. Investigators are looking into the details.
