Suspect Arrested After Chase From Santee to El Cajon
EL CAJON, CA (October 18, 2018) – A suspect who led authorities on a chase that went from areas in Santee to El Cajon was arrested Wednesday night.
The October 17 incident began at roughly 10:05 p.m. when a deputy tried to pull the suspect driver over. The deputy had seen the suspect run through two red lights, Aaron Montan said. Montain is a sheriff’s sergeant.
The suspect fled and drove into a mobile home park that was close by. Deputies blocked the suspect’s vehicle there. The driver then struck a patrol vehicle and drove away, heading west on Mission Gorge Road. For a short time, reports say, the suspect was driving in the wrong direction on the road’s lanes.
The fleeing vehicle then got on state Route 125 heading south, and got off at Grossmont College Drive. The suspect vehicle then smashed into a home’s fence in El Cajon.
According to Montan, deputies blocked the suspect and sent out a police dog in a cul-de-sac. Authorities arrested the man on suspicion of felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon, and driving under the influence.
