Crashes Involving Bus on 405 Freeway In North Hills Injure 25 People

NORTH HILLS, CA (October 15, 2018) – At least twenty-five people were injured in collisions involving a private charter bus and other vehicles on the 405 Freeway in North Hills on Sunday afternoon.

The initial October 14 accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the freeway; the time was roughly 1:00 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a bus had been heading north on the freeway when it collided with other vehicles. The bus then struck the divider in the center of the freeway and crashed through. The bus then entered the freeway’s lanes traveling southbound, and collided with vehicles there.

Responders arrived on scene and offered medical attention to 40 people. Responders took twenty-five people to the hospital, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Five of the victims suffered injuries that were described as serious; they were identified as three women whose ages are 49, 60, and 88, and two men whose ages are 30 and 69.

Officials said that the twenty other victims suffered injuries that were minor.

The bus had been transporting at least 37 passengers, reports say.

Investigators do not yet know what caused the collisions to occur. They are examining the details and information.
