LOMPOC, CA (September 25, 2018) – A crash on Highway 1 involving two vehicles killed a woman Monday. The collision occurred south of Lompoc.
The time was roughly 2:20 p.m.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department said a woman, who had been driving a Honda Accord, was traveling north on the highway. Her vehicle went out of control and hit a pickup truck that had been traveling in the opposite direction, going south.
The impact caused the Honda to travel off the road and over the side about 15 feet. Responders pronounced the driver—identified as a woman in her 50s—deceased at the accident scene.
Reports say that the person who had been driving the pickup truck was not hurt.
Investigators from California Highway patrol are examining the details to determine the collision’s cause.
