LONG BEACH, CA – Four-Car Crash Kills Woman at East Artesia Boulevard

LONG BEACH, CA (June 27, 2018) – An accident involving four vehicles killed a woman at East Artesia Boulevard and Cherry Avenue Monday morning.
According to police, the accident occurred around 9:40 a.m. A thirty-seven-year-old woman from Long Beach was driving a red 1998 Ford Expedition, heading eastbound on East Artesia Boulevard accompanied by four children. Her vehicle was hit by a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The reports indicate the twenty-five-year-old driver of the Jeep did not stop at the red light.
After the impact, the Ford continued moving in the No. 2 eastbound lane. The Ford then hit a light pole on the southeast corner of the intersection of East Artesia Boulevard and Cherry Avenue. The Jeep then hit a gray 2013 Kia Optima that was stopped and facing northbound, and also a black 2008 GMC Yukon on Cherry Avenue.
Rescuers discovered the woman inside the Ford was in critical condition. They took her to a nearby hospital where she died. According to reports, the children were in good condition.
The relationship between the woman and the four children was not indicated in reports. Police did not make arrests, but the investigation is continuing into the cause of the wreck. Anyone with information is urged to contact LBPD Detective David Lauro at (562) 570-7355.
