San Jose, CA (May 29, 2018)- According to local police officers, a male pedestrian was hit by a car when crossing down Santa Clara Street. The accident happened Tuesday afternoon, May 29th at around 8:45PM. The car heading down the street that lead to the death of the man was a 2004 BMW traveling north on 11th street towards Santa Clara Street. The driver, not yet identified, stayed at the scene and was cooperative when the police arrived. An ambulance was immediately called and transported the man to the hospital where he then died from his critical injuries. Later the Santa Clara office of County Medical Examiner’s, released the man’s name as 77- year old Samuil Shakman. Investigators are still trying to determine whether Samuil Shakman or the driver had the green light before the accident. Police also say that drugs or alcohol were not factors of the accident and will continue the investigation.
