Accutane Lawyer

Accutane is a medication that was prescribed to treat severe acne. Roche Pharmaceuticals, which was the company that manufactured Accutane, stopped producing the drug in 2009. This drug has been linked to many serious side effects, including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, rectal bleeding and inflammatory bowel disease.

Pregnant women who use this drug are more likely to deliver a baby with birth defects. This medication has been shown to interfere with fetal development. Furthermore, Accutane has been linked to miscarriages, suicidal thoughts and premature.

Accutane first hit the market in 1982. However, health care professionals did not realize that this drug has potentially dangerous side effects until 10 years later. In 1998, the Food And Drug Administration issued a warning saying that Accutane could increase the risk of suicidal thoughts. The Food And Drug Administration received 431 reports between 1982 and 2000 of people experiencing severe depression while taking this drug. Twenty-four people committed suicide while they were taking this drug. Additionally, thirteen people committed suicide after they had stopped taking Accutane.

Women are advised to use a reliable contraceptive in order to avoid a pregnancy while using this drug. The FDA warned that this drug could cause serious birth defects, such as neural tubal defects and cleft palate.

It is estimated that 16 million people in the world have used this medication. Approximately 7,000 personal injury lawsuits have been filed by people who have had an adverse reaction to this drug. Keep in mind there are hundreds of Accutane lawsuits that are still pending. It is estimated that Roche has already payed victims and their families a total of $53 million.

Although Roche stopped producing Accutane in 2009, it is still available in some countries. It is sold under the brand name Roaccutane. There are also some companies that sell generic equivalents of the drug.

People who have experienced serious side effects while taking this drug may be entitled to compensation. If you are interested in filing a lawsuit, then you will need to contact a personal injury attorney. Personal injury attorneys fight hard on behalf of their clients. Their goal is to make sure that victims and their families get fair and just compensation.
