The truck, a Chevrolet Silverado, crashed on Interstate 605 at about 6:00 p.m. near the Katella Avenue/Willow Street off ramp. The driver lost control of the truck causing it to fall down into a ditch and crash into a tree per The Orange County Register. One of the people in the truck was found dead at the scene and the other was transported to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center with life-threating injuries.

Orange County Fire Authority and hazardous-materials specialists studied the containers and concluded that they did not contain hazardous materials. They contained construction-equipment vaults.

The slow lane of the freeway near the accident and the off ramp were closed for a few hours while the accident was being cleared.
