Car accidents can take the life of anyone, leaving family members and close loved ones in mourning. On Friday, September 28, professional bowler Tony Reyes was killed on Highway 101 in Redwood City. Reyes was hit by a Jeep Liberty at around 12:30 a.m. and died at the scene.

In the dark of night, the pro bowler crashed his vehicle into a sound wall. After this initial collision, Reyes got out of his vehicle. He then walked onto a northbound lane of the 101 freeway and was then struck by an SUV. It was this collision that proved to be fatal. Police officers investigated the scene.

Tony Reyes, a resident from San Bruno, was married with a one-year old daughter. Friends and family members expressed their condolences at this sudden accident. One friend described the man as “an amazing person. When he walked into a room, you just couldn’t help but smile; he simply made you feel good. Tony’s ‘100 watt’ smile was a window into the man inside and it told you everything you needed to know about him.”

The Professional Bowlers Association released the sad news of the 38-year old’s untimely death on Friday.  Reyes was a well-known bowler, having competed in many competitions. Reyes has competed in 14 seasons. Recently, Reyes has cut back on his Tour competitions to concentrate on his professional business and coaching shop. He finished sixth in the 2010 PBA Tournament of Champions and placed 21st in 2012 and 37th in 2011. He also won eight PBA regional titles.

Reyes graduated from San Jose State University where he competed on the San Jose State bowling team from 1992 – 1995. He was also named First Team All-America in 1993 and 1995. He also became assistant coach for the San Jose State bowling team.

As a man with many accomplishments, his legacy will not be forgotten. A car accident on the road can often lead to personal injury and even wrongful death.
