There were no witnesses to the accident. A man in a Palm City neighborhood called authorities to report a brush fire he noticed off in the distance at about 6:10 a.m. When arriving to the source of the fire, an embankment near an interchange off of Interstate-Five, police found 2004 Cadillac CTS crashed against a tree and a dead man inside the vehicle.

Roads remained closed while firefighters extinguished the fire and detectives searched the area for further clues. They were re-opened about 8:30 a.m.

Evidence suggest the vehicle was heading south on I-5 and drifted off the freeway before falling into the embankment where it crashed into a tree. There was no one else in the car suggesting the driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The name of the driver will be released as soon as his kin are notified.
