5-vehicle crash injures 2 People on I-405 in Orange County

A collision on I-405 that affected five vehicles this morning, October 20, 2011, injured two people. The accident, which occurred around 6:20 a.m. near the 73 toll road, involved one of the vehicles speeding, according to a witness as reported in The Orange County Register.
A female who was driving a Toyota Solara and a female who was driving a Ford Explorer were hurt in the accident, and transported to a hospital, Battalion Chief Fred Sequin of the Costa Mesa Fire Department said. The driver of the Solara was thrown from her car. The Explorer, that rolled over, trapped the driver inside.
Also involved in the crash were a Lincoln limousine, an airport shuttle van, and a Hyundai Tiberon. California Highway Patrol officer J. Jones stated in the news story that a witness had seen the Solara’s driver moving at a high rate of speed.
The accident caused all freeway lanes to be closed while rescuers attended to victims at the scene. All lanes were open by 7:40 a.m.
