Woman Killed in Woodland Hills Crash; Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI
WOODLAND HILLS, CA (December 18, 2018) – A woman was killed in a collision in Woodland Hills early in the morning on Monday. The December 17 accident occurred on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Tony Im said. Im is an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.
The time was roughly 1:45 a.m.
According to reports, a vehicle—described as a Dodge Ram truck, year 2003—had been heading south on Topanga Canyon Boulevard. A vehicle—described as Honda Fit, year 2003—was trying to make a left turn from De La Osa Street eastbound to Topanga Canyon Boulevard northbound. The two vehicles collided.
The truck was driven by Ricardo Tejada, a 21-year-old resident of North Hills, reports say. The car was driven by a woman described as Asian, and in her 50s, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office said the woman died at the accident scene. Her name and city of residence have not yet been reported.
Reports say that Tejada was hurt in the accident. Responders took him to a hospital in the area. He was arrested later on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter after it was discovered that he was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol.
Investigators are continuing to look into the details and information regarding the accident.
